3t, an SWBR Company Earns Two Preservation Merit Awards

Since 1976 Historic Albany Foundation (HAF) has given annual awards for projects, individuals and organizations that demonstrate excellence and a commitment to preservation initiatives. 3t, an SWBR Company and our clients were recognized for two projects this year; Home Leasing’s Clinton Ave Revitalization project and Redburn’s Kenmore Building, including the Kenmore Ballroom where the reception was held.

Home Leasing’s Clinton Ave Revitalization project is in the Historic District of Albany’s Arbor Hill/Ten Broeck. 70 row houses were rehabilitated into 210 affordable housing and mixed-income units. Just in 2017 more than half of the units were vacant due to physical conditions and 8 of the buildings were condemned. The transformation of these buildings has been a catalyst for more investment into the community.

The Kenmore, located in Downtown’s Historic District, converted the empty office building, and former nightclub (the Rain-Bo Room) into 93 market rate apartments, co-working space for non-profits run by the United Way, and the Kenmore Ballroom wedding venue. Using rare historic photographs, the grand stair was reinstalled, including a mezzanine bringing the ballroom back to its originally two stories.

The award reception was held on September 23rd, in the Kenmore Ballroom. 3t, an SWBR Company, has now been recognized by HAF for a total of 8 projects over the past several years.
