Pan-American Square Apartments
A long-abandoned North Buffalo rail line is the site for DePaul’s new Pan-American Square Apartments, a 174K square foot, 150-unit apartment complex.
Located at 2633 Delaware Avenue, the development will consist of three four-story buildings, all interconnected by one-story link walkways. SWBR’s design will blend with local building patterns while allowing the complex to fit within the constrained buildable area of the site. Each building will contain 50 apartments and will be connected on the ground floor by enclosed corridors. The apartments will be a mix of studio, one, and two-bedroom units. The project, designed to meet Passive House standards, achieved PHIUS precertification in 2022.
The vacant site was once the railbed for the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad. As part of the site approval process in the city DePaul and SWBR hosted several online community engagement meetings with neighbors. The development of this site was supported by community and neighbors expressed enthusiasm at the site amenities such as a public walking and bike path.
