Foodlink Community Garden

Expanding an urban farm to serve a diverse neighborhood and surrounding community.

The Foodlink Community Farm is the largest urban farm in the Rochester region. The non-profit organization has long invested in a formerly vacant lot to create a growing space for low-income and new American community members. To continue to support the community, more raised beds are being installed and they’re adding a new Edible Education Center and greenhouse. This expansion allows Foodlink to host an additional 50 families and grow approximately 5,000 additional pounds of food. The 1,800-square-foot greenhouse will enable year-round growing, and the 1,500-square-foot Edible Education Center will host workshops, events, and educational programming for local schools.

Edible Education Center

Captured spaces between and around the new Edible Education Center, Greenhouse, and future Gathering Pavillion create interconnected spaces for a variety of activities.

Greenhouse

The view inside the new greenhouse provides an all-season resource for growing fresh food to support local families as well as providing ingredients to support Foodlink’s numerous meal programs.

Expanded Garden

The vastly expanded raised bed area provides a critical expansion of growing capacity. The estimated annual cultivation of 11,000 pounds of food will serve 120 families – as well as accommodating composting and beekeeping.
