Foodlink Community Garden & Distribution Expansion was honored for strengthening the infrastructure behind local food access. Spanning two sites, the initiative expands Foodlink’s Community Farm with year-round growing and educational spaces and modernizes its Mount Read Boulevard distribution facility. Increased storage, streamlined operations, and greater production capacity will help Foodlink reach more people and further its mission to combat food insecurity.
The Neisner at East End received recognition for reimagining a historic downtown Rochester landmark. Through adaptive reuse, the former Neisner Department Store office building has become a 56-unit luxury apartment community with co-working areas, a fitness center, resident lounge, and private pocket park. The transformation preserves an important piece of the city’s architectural character while creating a distinctive new residential experience in the East End.
CreekView Apartments Phase II was selected for demonstrating what is possible at the intersection of sustainability and affordable housing. The 72-unit addition to Canandaigua’s Woodland Park recently achieved PHIUS Zero Certification for its net-zero energy performance. An all-electric design pairs geothermal heating and cooling with on-site solar generation, energy recovery ventilation, and a high-performance envelope to lower consumption and carbon emissions without compromising resident comfort. Building on the success of Phase I, CreekView offers a replicable model for environmentally responsible housing.
