Susan B. Anthony Interpretive Center

The approach to the design of the new Susan B. Anthony Interpretive Center was understanding progress and what it takes to achieve it. The center’s main goals are to “create a meaningful experience that inspires people to act” and that the design should be “timeless but flexible and adaptable.”

The new 20,000 SF design will supplement the original Susan B. Anthony House and Museum, located one street over. The major experiential zones of the design will be event space for up to 450 people, the visitors experience which includes interactive displays, and the historic archives. The design concept uses a one-story podium building for the visitor experience space which allows the building mass to break down on the upper levels, being sympathetic to the neighborhood context.

Teaming up with exhibit designers Solid Light, SWBR is providing architecture, landscape, structural, and interior design services. Once the project is complete, the Interpretive Center and the Susan B. Anthony Museum & House will be the undisputed national authority as the keepers of Anthony’s legacy.
