Midvale Commons Receives Phius Pre-Certification

PathStone Midvale Commons in Perinton has achieved Passive House pre-certification through the Passive House Institute of the U.S (Phius). This milestone acknowledges that the building is designed and modeled to the Passive House standard of envelope performance, operational efficiency, and indoor air quality. Passive buildings meet the highest level of energy efficiency, cost little to heat or cool, and achieve maximum air comfort. Phius sets the standard for passive house in North America.

Achieving Phius ZERO 2021 pre-certification, the new affordable and supportive senior community also prioritizes health and wellness through LEED for Homes Silver certification. The design emphasizes the use of low carbon materials and resiliency with battery storage for demand control and backup systems. In 2021, the design was selected as a winner in New York State Energy Research & Development’s (NYSERDA) Buildings of Excellence Competition that rewards the design, construction, and operation of carbon neutral-ready multifamily buildings. The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2024.
