Sheridan Hollow

Sheridan Hollow, once one of Albany’s most neglected neighborhoods, experienced a redevelopment as part of a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization strategy. The strategy included a community design charrette with 380 stakeholders, resulting in the Sheridan Hollow Project plan. The initiative was a private/public collaboration lead by Capital District Habitat for Humanity, the City of Albany, and our team acting as the design firm for the Master Plan.

Housing Visions redeveloped the neighborhood into a mixed-income, mixed-use community. The project included 17 buildings with 54 rental units, most of which comprise affordable housing townhomes of various configurations. In addition to the townhomes, there are two mixed-use buildings with office and retail on the ground floor and apartments on the upper two levels.
The once-blighted neighborhood is now a thriving community with green areas, new streetscapes and mixed-use buildings serving affordable and market-rate housing, with both rental and home-ownership units.
