Scarlet Knife Wins AIA Eastern New York Design Award
We are pleased to announce that Scarlet Knife Restaurant is the recipient of a 2023 AIA Eastern NY Design Honor Award in the Commercial/Industrial Large Project category. The annual awards program recognizes outstanding architectural design in New York and around the world.
The adaptive reuse project in Latham, NY transformed 15,000 SF of an abandoned box store into an expansive, upscale restaurant that provides a unique dining experience and attracts people from all over the Capital Region. Scarlet Knife boasts a seasonal outdoor bar and dining area, an open kitchen, a dessert room, a custom knife-shaped indoor bar, and three 12-foot-high double-sided rooms designed for wine storage and display.
Scarlet Knife is part of the retail plaza’s complete transformation, which was honored in April with the 2023 Best Real Estate Deal (BRED) Transformation of the Year Award by the Albany Business Review. The restaurant played a significant role in receiving this recognition.
SWBR provided architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture design services for the project.
The design team accepted the award at the AIA Eastern NY Architecture, Technology & the Future – 2023 Design Awards Presentation Wednesday, November 15 at the Crown Plaza-Desmond Hotel in Albany.
