EMHCS Charter School Expansion

Expansion increases capacity and advances the school’s bilingual mission.

Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School (EMHCS) in Rochester serves bilingual, K-12 students and is the longest running charter school in the county. Originally serving middle school students, the school is expanding to accommodate increasing high school enrollment and improve facilities to provide a modern, safe, and nurturing learning environment for all. The project includes a new two-story high school for grades 10–12, an addition that creates a new Section V gymnasium, and the restoration of a former church into a three-story ninth grade academy. Together, the three facilities will form a connected, unified campus adjacent to the existing school.

High School

The new building will serve up to 300 students in grades 9–12.

Gymnasium

The expansion includes a new Section V gymnasium, providing athletic facilities for competition and physical education.

Addition

The gymnasium addition includes a dedicated entrance for events.
