David has been with SWBR since 1979, he was President of the firm for 20 years and has transitioned to Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). His clients know him for his high energy, his excellent communication skills, and as a trusted partner, dedicated to accomplishing their goals. In addition to his role as Principal overseeing client projects, David is also focused on business development. He is enthusiastic about being a mentor and teacher, planning, facilitating and coaching his project teams, or as a community leader and volunteer. Not only does he enjoy nurturing and empowering SWBR’s talented design staff, but he has also been coaching soccer for over 40 years. In 2020, David was awarded the prestigious Frederic Schwartz Community Development Award by The New York State American Institute of Architects which recognizes projects and individuals who have had a significant and positive impact to the built environment in New York State.
His passion for sustainability extends beyond his design work – David “walks the talk. He drives an electric-powered car and nurtures his small family farm where he grows his own vegetables and hops. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Joan, their 9 children, and 21(+) grandchildren.
