Syracuse University Center for Science and Technology
Renovation creates six new labs to support STEM academics.
To support the university’s STEM Renewal initiative, offices and classrooms at the Center for Science and Technology (CST) were converted to prototypical wet laboratory space. The design focused on creating labs that are “move-in ready” for new PI’s while having the flexibility to adapt to future research needs in chemistry and biology. The labs have fixed benches at the perimeter and an open center for mobile benching, with designated fume hood locations. A multi-phased approach enabled the building to remain functional while the dual duct air handling and lab exhaust systems were replaced, improving safety and lowering energy use.
