The School at Springbrook

The School at Springbrook has been offering educational services to children and adults with behavioral problems since 1960. Springbrook’s main campus, consisting of 110 acres, is located on Route 28 between Cooperstown and Oneonta. The campus includes a 50,000 SF building and six 8-bed ranch style homes along with various ancillary administrative support buildings.



Springbrook proposes to expand its residential student population from 48 to 72 to facilitate bringing 24 students presently placed out of state in approved programs and emergency placements. This increase in the residential school program is significant and will require extensive modifications and additions of the existing school building and the construction of three 8-bed houses in order to meet the needs of the students referred to our campus from out of state.



The School is looking at new construction and renovation to its existing facilities so that it will be prepared not just for the anticipated increase in enrollment but to provide growth to years to come. Springbrook is committed to make all areas safe with durable construction and Green “Best Building Practices” will be incorporated in the design to promote energy efficiency and sustainability.


Expected completion date for construction is 2010 with a total estimated project cost of $23M.
