SWBR prepared schematic design through construction document phase services for improvement of this courtyard at a senior living facility. The owner decided that a central free-form shaped planter was no longer desired as it restricted circulation and made it difficult for the space to accommodate large groups and performances. The approved design solution calls for the planter to be replaced with permeable brick pavement, a shade structure, and plantings. The project also includes an extensive underdrainage system which will collect stormwater after it has percolated through the pavement.
