Nixon Peabody has dedicated themselves to the ideals of Sustainable Design. A large portion of their energy needs are served by sustainable, renewable energy, Nixon Peabody has committed to having all of their offices LEED Certified, once their leases come due. They are renovating the 10th floor, approximately 15,000 SF, of an existing building located in Albany, NY, and their goal is to achieve LEED-SILVER certification.



Nixon Peabody has come across many challenges with this existing building as the ventilation system, windows, utilities and building policies were already in place and impossible to alter to achieve certain LEED credits. These struggles have made them more prepared for future endeavors and has gained them a great experience within the LEED process.



Nixon Peabody has made exceptional efforts and has even gone over and above their expectations to make a “green” office. The have purchased all available Energy Star Rated equipment. They have purchased a bicycle rack for their employees even though they could not meet the credit for alternative transportation. Their commitment and dedication is clear and they will continue to help make our community “greener”, and our environment safer for our children in the future.



This project is registered with USGBC and pending certification for Commercial Interiors (CI).
