University of Rochester University Heath Service Building

The University of Rochester engaged the team of SWBR Architects, M/E Engineering and Passero Associates to bring together their previously distinct programs of university health services and the university counseling center, each of which serves the University Community, to one central location on the River Campus. It was the desire of the University Architect and Health Service administration to design this project sustainably in order to create a healthier environment for the staff and community that they serve.



Following the guidelines established by the U.S. Green Building Council for energy efficient and environmentally responsible design, this building offers contemporary design features such as larger windows with improved glazing, advanced mechanical and electrical system design, healthier construction materials, and a uniquely integrated canopy and garden while maintaining qualities of the traditional campus architectural character.
